Blog post 01 composition
Introduction:
Greetings fellow readers. Here I present my first blog post in COM 113-03 Graphic software Packages. Here I will post several photos that are related to our first assignment, which revolves around composition and "working the shot".
Taking professional photographs, there are many individuals that tend to interpret the body of work differently, that can sometimes hinder them from looking beyond the subject itself .
Creating A Theme :
Coming up with a theme was a little challenging for many reasons. One reason was that I initially had an idea of a theme in my head, but I was not so confident. Initially my theme was going to be about the buildings that are on HPU campus however, it seemed a bit complex for this assignment. After a long thinking process, I decided to have light( specifically lamps) as my theme.
Found Subject:
Finding a subject to photograph can be very difficult because there are several roles that apply when a subject is emphasized in a photograph. Upon doing my research I found that when choosing a subject photograph, the placement of the subject is key. However, the most important is perspective. perspective plays an important role in how we see the subject. I chose lamps as my subject because it can be used for many different things such as studying, and for decorations. Although sunlight is natural light that is a good light source, lamps are also a good source of light.
Symbolism/Representation:
Once I determined that my theme was going to be about light specifically lamps, then I thought about the representation of lamps and why they are so important. Wisdom, intellect and good work are all expressions of the symbolic nature of a lamp.
Simplicity: According to our previous reading on "Composition", the reading states that "One of the main things to consider is how the elements in the shot that relate to each other." Not only that, but when took photos of my subject I wanted to incorporate other compositions that would make the photographs more appealing. In the first photo with the tow black lamps, I wanted to take the photo at an angle where it would fall into the Rule of Thirds. In the last two photos it was all about the lighting. when I took the last two photos, the lighting Composition was very important. I wanted the two last phots to centered, mainly because I loved how the sunlight reflected the details of the tow photos .
